What We Believe

God the Father

We believe in God, the Father as the head of the trinity. God is an infinite, personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. We believe that He concerns Himself mercifully and justly regarding His law in the affairs of each person, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.

Genesis 1:1; Isaiah 43:10; Isaiah 44:6; Isaiah 45:22; John 4:24; 5:26; Colossians 1:16-19; 1 Corinthians. 8:4

Jesus Christ

We believe in Jesus Christ as the second person of the trinity. Jesus is God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, and teachings. We believe in His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people and personal visible return to earth.

John 3:16; Matthew 1:20, 23; Luke 23:46; Luke 24:51; Mark 16:19, Hebrews 9:12

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit as the third person of the trinity. The Holy Spirit came forth from the Father and Son to convict, sanctify, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ, and that He is an abiding helper, teacher, and guide.

John 4:24; John 14:17, 26; 1 Corinthians 6:19

The Word of God

We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. It has supreme authority and is profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, training, and equipping for good works. It is sufficient for salvation in its entirety, both Old and New Testaments, and cannot be added to or taken away from.

Psalm 119:11, 105; Proverbs 30:5-6; John 1:1; John 20:31; Galatians 1:8-9; 2 Timothy 3:16-17;Hebrews 1:1-2; Hebrews 4:12; 1 Peter 1:23-25;2 Peter 1:19-21

Man

We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, but when Adam sinned, the whole human race fell, incurring spiritual death which is separation from God, and inheriting a sinful nature. Man is a sinner by nature and by practice, and is totally depraved, unable in and of himself to remedy his lost condition.

Genesis 1:1; 1:26-27; Isaiah 45:22; Romans 3:10-19, 23; Romans 5:12; Romans 8:7-8; Ephesians 2:1-3, Acts 4:12; 1 Peter 1:18

Salvation

We believe we are saved solely by the grace of God through faith in Christ alone. This salvation was purchased by the substitutionary death and shed blood of Jesus Christ for the sins of every person and is offered to everyone as a free gift. The person who has trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior is eternally secure, and can enjoy the assurance of salvation. We believe that at death believers enter eternal glory and that unbelievers enter eternal torment.

Sanctification

We believe that every believer is sanctified at salvation, set apart with a perfect standing before God. As we yield ourselves to the Holy Spirit, we are progressively sanctified through grace, and we will experience spiritual growth in holiness, but we will not experience perfection in conduct. Future rewards are determined by our obedience to the Lord.

Hebrews 10:10; Philippians 3:12; Romans 6:13-19; 1 Corinthians 3:8

Church

We believe that God created humans to need relationships and fellowship with one another. Man is not meant to live in isolation but is instead called to fellowship. Believers are called to be an active part of a church community.

Ephesians 1:22-23; 2:19-22; 3:6-10; 4:11-13; Hebrews 10:25; 1 Peter 2:9-10; 1 John 4:17

Baptism

We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water into the name of the triune God. Baptism is not a means to salvation.

Acts 8:12,13a, 38; Acts 10:47-48; Matthew 3:16

Sexuality

We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image of God. (Genesis 1:26-27) Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the way that God intended for that person to reflect God’s image.

We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. (Genesis 2:18-25) We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. (1 Corinthians 6:18; 7:2-5; Hebrews 13:4) We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, and use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God. (Matthew 15:18-20; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10; Romans 1:22-27)

The Last Things

We believe, on a day known only by God the Father, Jesus will rapture His church. The Lord Jesus Christ will return in glory to establish His Millennial Kingdom on the earth.
